Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia to Launch Bucks County Concert Series

One of the country’s preeminent chamber orchestras is to launch a new concert series in Bucks County, beginning in Spring 2023.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, a resident ensemble at the Kimmel Center, will perform a concert at Newtown Middle School this April. The full-size, professional chamber orchestra will perform works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn, as well as Strauss’ Horn Concerto no. 1 with Jennifer Montone, principal horn of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

This unique concert will be the launch event for a series of concerts aiming to bring exceptional orchestral music to the residents of Bucks County. Sebastian Grand, who is conducting the performance, said “Many Bucks County residents frequently travel into Philadelphia to enjoy world-class classical music performances. This concert series brings that experience to their doorstep.”

The concert is being supported by the Grand School of Music, a New Hope music school that educates over 200 local musicians. Sebastian Grand, who is well known to Bucks County audiences through his work with the Bucks County Symphony Orchestra and Youth Orchestra of Bucks County, has a thriving conducting career. He holds positions with Delaware County Symphony and the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey, and will compete in international competitions in Romania, Bulgaria and the US during the 2022-23 season.
